Minemax already had a relationship with the branding arm of our business, Luminosity. In 2010 Luminosity took Minemax through a brand realignment process that produced its current branding elements. So when it came time for a new website, Minemax gave BirdBrain a shot at quoting for the job. We might have had a foot in the door but we still had to win this project on merit.
Minemax chose to work with BirdBrain having observed our team’s dedication to brand integrity. Our experience also demonstrated an ability to integrate third party web services and eCommerce solutions into a high-end designed, product showcase website.
The website would showcase features, benefits and applications for the Minemax mining planning software as well as facilitate chat support, the download of software trial versions and payment for product subscriptions.
BirdBrain’s approach to the project was comprehensive, including stages for keyword research, information architecture (IA) and URL planning SEO conscious copywriting and meta data writing and on-site implementation. This is the crucial work of website integrity and essential to get right before embarking on design and development.
Once the website’s message was crafted and clear we could begin custom page designs. Every page that had a unique message deserved a unique design. A design led by the copy. Design that supports and bolsters the copy with images and graphical devices.
We were able to share page designs with Minemax via the BirdBrain portal – our homegrown web app that’s giving us direct connection with our clients. Our Web Designer uploaded page designs and the Minemax team could view those designs inside their browser – a web page design’s natural habitat!
Then came development. The Minemax website has a bucket load of user editability within the WordPress CMS and all this value for Minemax was heavy lifting for our Web Developer. As well as a sophisticated top navigation, the product pages have an internal navigation that helps the user to know where they are on the page.
Aesthetically pleasing and practically useful. The art of building effective websites can be a complex one, but always worth it to give the user a great experience.
